Redoing A Small Condo Kitchen For The Best Effect

If you live in a major city, it is likely that space comes at a premium. In a city with high price points for real estate, it is best for you to take advantage of a small, affordable space that you have, rather than trying to spend more to get a larger home. If you have purchased a small home and the kitchen needs a little bit of updating, you will be able to redo the kitchen and make it look beautiful, regardless of the square footage -- after all, a tiny kitchen can still produce the same delicious meals that a chef's kitchen can. Here is how you can redo a small condo kitchen for the best effect:

Use one wall as the kitchen

In a small condo, it is best to use only the room that you will need for the kitchen. One of the best ways to do this is to situate the kitchen all on one wall or in one corner. Using only one wall for the kitchen will give you counter space and cabinet space, but will keep the rest of the area clear for living space. Pick out a wall with enough room and electrical outlets for a stove, microwave, oven, and kitchen countertops.

Buy your own countertops in a light color

Though light-colored kitchens tend to be a little more maintenance, lighter countertops also look clean and spacious at all times. Purchase countertops in a material that you can afford, and make sure they are light in shade. Quartz, marble, or granite countertops are some of the best materials for counters that are easy to clean and appealing to the eye. Pick one of these in a bright color that will be used as the theme for your kitchen, and have them installed on your kitchen wall. Choose cabinets that are a white, light gray, or beige color with just a hint of blue to keep the space open.

Get slightly smaller appliances

Standard-size appliances are the most common on the market, but there are appliances that you can purchase that are smaller than average. There are stove and ovens that come in a slender size that are a few inches slimmer than the usual appliance. Select smaller appliances to make the most of your space. To help you pick small appliances that work, you can take some of your cookware with you to the appliance store. Place them inside the oven and on the stove to ensure that you will not have to amend your cooking habits in order to save space.
